VIZ Media or simply VIZ, is an anime/manga publishing, distribution and licensing company based in San Francisco, California, whose output mainly consists of titles from the Weekly Shōnen Jump range, which were released in the United States simply as Shōnen Jump. The company was formed in 1986 by Seiji Horibuchi as VIZ LLC., and were then known as VIZ Media LLC. from early 2006 onwards, under the leadership of Hidemi Fukuhara. Ken Sasaki has been the company's primary CEO since 2012. The company has also delved into co-producing Western-made works, such as the 2014 live-action film Edge of Tomorrow, based on the All You Need Is Kill light novel, starring Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt.
Some of VIZ's biggest licensed anime/manga releases include Naruto, Bleach and InuYasha, along with their respective sequel series, Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War and Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon, plus the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure and Sailor Moon series. They are also involved with the home video releases of Pokémon and its manga adaptations, but are not involved in the anime's dubbing production. Other major releases include Death Note, Tiger & Bunny, One-Punch Man, Hunter x Hunter, K, Blood Lad, Accel World and Doraemon, plus the three Berserk: The Golden Age Arc films.
