The Summer Hikaru Died (光が死んだ夏, Hikaru ga Shinda Natsu) is a 2025 anime series based on the 2021 manga of the same name created by Mokumokuren. It was serialized and published in Kadokawa Shoten's Young Ace Up magazine on August 31, 2021.
It was produced by the studio CygamesPictures, directed by Ryōhei Takeshita, with scripts by Ryōhei Takeshita and music by Taro Umebayashi. The series premiered on July 6, 2025 and ran until September 28, 2025, consisting of 12 episodes.
On September 28, following the release of episode 12, a second season was announced.
The English dub of the first season was eventually released on Netflix on October 31, 2025.

Dubbing History[]
The series started airing weekly on Netflix on July 6, 2025, however it was only available in Japanese audio.
The English dub was eventually released on October 31, 2025, but the dub credits weren't added. Despite this many voice actors involved in the dub announced their involvement through social media as well as revealing that VSI Los Angeles and Haley Veres is the voice director. The English Dub credits were eventually added on November 3, 2025.

- At the time of it's October 31st release, Netflix had not released the dubbing credits, meaning that the rest of the English dub cast, as well as the corresponding credits, had not been officially listed, even though the dub was produced by VSI Los Angeles.
- So far, information about the dubbing for The Summer Hikaru Died has only been confirmed by a few voice actors through social media platforms such as Twitter (X), Instagram and BlueSky. This situation is not exclusive to the English dub, as none of the international dubs have had their official credits released either.
