The Morose Mononokean (不機嫌なモノノケ庵, Fukigen na Mononokean) is a 2016 anime based on the Japanese manga series with the same name written and illustrated by Kiri Wazawa. It was serialized and published in Square Enix's Shōnen Gangan Online magazine from September 12, 2013 to April 8, 2021, with a total of 18 volumes.
The anime series was announced by Square Enix on February 11, 2016. The first season of the animated by Studio Signpost, directed by Akira Iwanaga, and began airing in Japan from June 28, 2016 to September 21, 2016, consisting of 13 episodes. The second season was animated by the same studio, with it directed by Itsuro Kawasaki, and it aired in Japan from January 5, 2019 to March 30, 2019, consisting of 13 episodes. Overall with a total of 26 episodes.
Crunchyroll simulcasted both of the seasons, while Funimation produced an English Dub of the series. They released an English Dub trailer for the first season on November 6 2017, with it listing for a DVD & Blu-Ray release for January 16, 2018. Crunchyroll added the dub of the first season on its streaming service on November 19, 2018. The second season was simuldubbed which on the same day of the second season's release on January 5, 2019.
