The Illusionauts (Los ilusionautas), also known as Freedom Force in most countries and Fantastic 4 Force in the UK, is a 2012 Peruvian computer animated film directed by Eduardo Schuldt and written by Abraham Vurnbrand. The film was produced by Aronnax Animation Studios and Televix Entertainment.

Synopsis

Unlikely events shake France. All of the heroes from the books of famous author Jules Verne were brought to life and, without knowing it, began to cause chaos and destruction. But when the new French President, and the Minister of Culture conceive to re-release a novel by the great writer, they accidently corrupt everything within, using a device called "The Imaginasium". Only a team of four talented children can save France now, as they're sent into the stories in order to return all of them back on track and put the heroes of Jules Verne's novels back to the pages from whence they came.

Dubbing History[]

An English dub of the film was recorded in New York by 4K Media, though two versions of it were produced. The first version was largely faithful to the original Peruvian version. For the US release, the dub had several alterations done to it, most notably re-dubbing Nicole and Professor with Sarah Michelle Gellar and Christopher Lloyd respectively. Some of the New York voice actors also re-recorded some dialogue for this version, following various changes to dialogue and character names. There are also various editing differences compared to the original.

Notes[]

  • The names for the various Jules Verne characters seem to differ between the two dubs. The uncut version uses made up names, whereas the edited version uses the actual character names.
    • Jules Verne is also re-named Jules Visogneaux in the uncut version.
  • Scenes involving Profiterole's alcoholic uncle are cut in the edited version.
    • He does however still make an appearance during the climax but is changed to a random citizen rather than Profiterole's uncle.
  • Petit Pan is re-named Peter Lambert in the edited version.
  • This is the only non Yu-Gi-Oh! related media to be dubbed by 4K Media, Inc.
