The Heroic Legend of Arslan (アルスラーン戦記 Arslan Senki) is a six-part original video animation based on the manga series by Yoshiki Tanaka, and directed by Mamoru Hamatsu and Mihiro Yamaguchi.

The first two OVA episodes were released as "movies", which is why each one is an hour long, rather than the traditional half-hour and were produced by Kadokawa Shoten and Sony Music Entertainment Japan. A second OVA series that followed up the first OVAs released in 1995.

Synopsis

Betrayed from within and overwhelmed by dark sorcery, the valiant armies of Pars are overrun by the warrior-fanatics of Lusitania. Escaping the destruction of his homeland, the heroic Prince Arslan begins to assemble a group of five, extraordinary allies — a priestess, an exiled warrior, a mischievous minstrel, an insightful artist and his attendant — to aid him in his fight against the Lucitanian invaders. Together, they must build an army and defeat 300,000 trained soldiers — including the mysterious Lord Silver Mask — who has also laid claim to the throne of Pars....

Dubbing History[]

The series was initially licensed and dubbed by Manga Entertainment as The Heroic Legend of Arislan and released on VHS in the United Kingdom. Manga only dubbed the first 4 episodes (those being the only episodes released at the time of dubbing).

When the series was later released in the United States by Central Park Media, Episodes 5 and 6 were dubbed using their own New York-based cast and released as Heroic Legend of Arslan: Age of Heros. This caused a lot inconsistencies with the original dub, including utilizing different translations and names.
