The Gutsy Frog (ど根性ガエル, Dokonjō Gaeru) is a Japanese animated adaptation of the manga series of the same name, written and illustrated by Yasumi Yoshizawa. It was produced by Tokyo Movie & Asahi Broadcasting and aired on ABC, TBS and other JNN affiliates from October 7, 1972, to September 28, 1974.

Synopsis The story revolves around a frog named Pyonkichi getting crushed by a middle schooler named Hiroshi, after he trips over a rock and squashes him. However, Pyonkichi is reborn as an imprint on the front of Hiroshi's shirt and now gives him advice and commentary on his life.

Dubbing History

A Hong Kong-produced English dub aired on Pogo in the early 2010s. It also possibly changed all the characters' names. So far, the only known voice actors in the dub are Russell Wait, Muriel Hofmann Lili Troncale. The dubbing studio is currently unknown, but it's possible it was dubbed by either Red Angel Media or Omni Productions.
