The Greatest Demon Lord Is Reborn as a Typical Nobody is a 2022 anime series based on the novel and light novel series written by Myōjin Katō. The novel series was published from August 2017 to May 2022. The light novel series written by the same guy, and illustrated by Sao Mizuno. It was serialized and published by Fujimi Shobo from May 19, 2018 to May 20, 2022, with a total of 10 volumes. It also received a manga adaptaion, with it illustrated by Misuho Kotoba. It was serialized and published in Square Enix's Monthly Big Gangan magazine from February 25, 2019 to July 25, 2022, with a total of 7 volumes.

The anime series was announced on March 6, 2021, it was animated by both BLADE and SILVER LINK, directed by Mirai Minato, and it aired in Japan from April 6, 2022 to June 22, 2022, consisting of 12 episodes. Crunchyroll licensed and produced an English dub of the series, which premiered on their streaming service on April 20, 2022^[1].

Synopsis

The most powerful Demon Lord in history, Varvatos, felt that he had accomplished everything he could as a king. Because he was so alone due to how powerful he was, he longed for a much simpler life. A few millennia later, he is reborn as the villager, Ard Meteor. But in the future where he was reborn, magical civilization had declined and magic itself had become weaker.

Ard enrolls into the Academy of Magic with his childhood friend Ireena and no matter how much he tries not to stand out, he can't hide the fact that he is not ordinary.

He is constantly surrounded by people awestruck by him, and many try to approach him. Meanwhile, the demons of the world who once struck fear into the hearts of the people have also gone into hiding...

Will the former Demon Lord be able to achieve the peaceful and mundane life he's always dreamed of? A heroic academy-life fantasy filled with chaos is about to begin!
