The Adventures of the Little Prince (星の王子さま プチ・プランス Hoshi no Ojisama Petit Prince) is an anime series based on the book by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. Made by the animation studio Knack Productions, the series aired in Japan on the TV Asahi network from July 1978 to March 1979.
Dubbing History[]
26 of the series' 39 episodes were dubbed in the early 1980s by Jambre Productions. In the United States, it had a brief run in syndication in 1983, then aired on Nickelodeon from June 1, 1985 to December 29, 1989. In Canada, the series aired on TVOntario.
The dub made a considerable amount of changes from the Japanese version, not only changing episode plotlines, but the show's premise. In the Japanese version, The Little Prince travels to Earth in search of friends he can have a heart-by-heart talk with. The series followed him on his travels, and he only returned home at the end of the series. In the dub, he traveled to Earth or a planet resembling Earth (such planets were Earth in the Japanese version) and returned home at the end of each episode.
