Super Grand Prix is a film version of the anime series, Arrow Emblem: Hawk of the Grand Prix (アローエンブレム・グランプリの鷹 Arrow Emblem Grand Prix no Taka), which originally aired from 1977 to 1978 in Japan. The 44 episode series was significantly shortened to form a 90-minute film released by Century Video Corporation in 1983.

Synopsis

Shawn Corrigan is a young amateur racer who hopes to fulfil his dream of becoming a Formula 1 champion one day. An accident in a stock car race temporarily halts his mission as he has to regain his confidence with the help of a mysterious masked man who is convinced of his talent. Misfortune seems to follow him until he finally gets a break by being included to Katori Motors' Monte Carlo Rally team as a third entry. A victory in the rally gets him chosen as the driver for Katori Motors Formula 1 project who take part in their first season as a one-car-team with a unique 8-wheel-car inspired by Shawn's own design ideas.
