Santa's Apprentice (original French title L'Apprenti Père Noel) is a 2010 animated Christmas film produced and animated by Gaumont-Alphanim (now Gaumont Animation), Avril Stark Entertainment and Cartoon Saloon. It is based on the animated TV series SantApprentice.
A sequel, titled The Magic Snowflake, was released on 20 November 2013 in France.
Dubbing History[]
The film was first dubbed into English in Australia, with Becker Film Group distributing the dub. The dub features a few noteworthy names in the cast, those being Shane Jacobson, Delta Goodrem, Magda Szubanski and Georgie Parker. This dub was released to Australian theaters on November 10, 2011, and was also included as a language track on the French Blu-ray release.
In 2010, the American distribution rights to the film were acquired by The Weinstein Company, though for unknown reasons, it did not see a release until 2015 when it alongside The Magic Snowflake was released to Netflix for a short time in December, with a DVD release from Anchor Bay Entertainment the following year. Rather than using the original English dub, The Weinstein Company opted to create their own dub at Oracle Post, with an American voice cast instead. Unlike the Australian dub, the Weinstein dub does not feature any celebrities in the cast.
