Saint Tail (怪盗セイント・テール Kaito Saint Tail) is an anime television series produced by TMS-Kyokuichi, based on the manga of the same name by Megumi Tachikawa. The series originally aired on ABC, TV Asahi and other ANN affiliates in Japan between October 12, 1995 and September 12, 1996, consisting of 43 episodes. The series was released in North America on DVD and VHS by Tokyopop between August 28, 2001 and November 12, 2002.

Dubbing History[]

The show's first English dub was produced by Philippine broadcaster Radio Philippines Network under license from TMS-K, titled under its international name, Sweet Tales of St. Tail and aired on RPN-9 in the Philippines from 1997 to 1998 during Friday nights. The dub was recorded at Telesuccess Productions in San Juan, Metro Manila. As of this moment, a TV spot and most of the cast list have been found. [1]

In 2001, Tokyopop began licensing the show from TMS and began releasing the show on DVD and VHS in North America that same year, under the title Saint Tail. Tokyopop's dub was produced by Studiopolis. However, only 15 episodes were produced and dubbed, leaving the rest of the show subtitled as Tokyopop's dub was cancelled for unknown reasons.

Notes[]

  • While Tokyopop would release the whole series on DVD in North America, only the first 4 volumes, consisting of the first 15 episodes were dubbed before the dub was dropped for unknown reasons. Tokyopop would release the rest of the series subtitled only, this would receive some criticism from parents, as their young children could no longer follow the stories.
    • However, the Telesuccess/RPN dub covered the entire show.
  • This was Mela Lee's only anime dub not recorded at Bang Zoom! Entertainment until Cannon Busters and so far her only Studiopolis role.
