Robert Sommer was an American actor, voice actor and opera singer.

Career[]

Robert Sommer served in the merchant navy in World War II and the United States Army in Korea. The trained opera singer first came to Rome in 1959, he soon got a part in La Bohème at the Rome Opera and also began to be cast in films, such as a bit part in 1963's Cleopatra, which also featured fellow dubber John Karlsen.[1] Sommer's deep bass voice made him the ideal choice for muscle man films, which were produced en masse at the time.[1]

Other credits of Robert Sommer include Puccini's La Fanciulla del West and Franco Zeffirellis film adaptation of La Traviata, which unfortunately cut Sommer's most important scene.[1]
