Plus-Sized Elf (エルフさんは痩せられない。, Erufu-san wa Yaserarenai, lit. 'Ms. Elf Can't Lose Weight') is a 2024 anime series based on the Japanese manga series with the same name written and illustrated by Synecdoche. It was originally serialized on Wani Books' Comic Gum website from December 2016 to June 2020, with its individual chapters collected into eight tankōbon volumes. After Wani Books' license to the series expired, Synecdoche self-published the series from April to May 2021.
It then started a continuation manga titled Plus-Sized Elf: Second Helping! (新・エルフさんは痩せられない。, Shin Erufu-san wa Yaserarenai, lit. 'Ms. Elf Can't Lose Weight New') in Akita Shoten's monthly seinen magazine, Dokodemo Young Champion, in October 2021, with its individual chapters collected into four tankōbon volumes. Both manga are licensed for English release in North America by Seven Seas Entertainment.
The anime television series adaptation was announced on January 15, 2024.[1] It was produced/animated by Elias, directed by Toshikatsu Tokoro, series composition by Yuki Takabayashi, music composed by Cher Watanabe, and it premiered in Japan from July 7, 2024 to September 22, 2024, consisting of 12 episodes. It aired with two versions of the show, the censored version on Tokyo MX & BS11, and the uncensored version on AT-X. The OVAs of the anime titled Plus-Sized Elf: Muffin Top Island/Calorie Lovers (エルフさんは痩せられない。ハミ肉の島/カロリーラヴァーズ, Elf-san wa Yaserarenai.: Hami Niku no Shima/Calorie Lovers), consisting of 2 episodes (which makes it both Episodes 13 & 14 of the series overall) was released in Japan from October 5, 2024 to October 19, 2024 on the web, before being included in the Blu-ray release of the series.
Sentai Filmworks licensed and produced an uncensored English Dub of the series, which premiered on HIDIVE's streaming service on march 12, 2025.[2][3]
