Peter of Placid Forest (のどか森の動物大作戦 Nodoka Mori no Dōbutsu Daisakusen), retitled Back to the Forest on the VHS release, is a 1980 Nippon Animation TV special based on the book Jakobus Nimmersatt by German author Boy Lornsen. The special was dubbed by Intersound in 1989 and played on Nickelodeon's Special Delivery block in the early 90s.
A French-Canadian dub, Les amis de la foret (Friends of the Forest), was also made in 1989 and based on the English dub. It was telecast on the public TV network Radio-Quebec in January 1990. This dub changes several of the character names, including Peter to Pierrot.
Synopsis
When the people of the town decide to cut down all the trees in Placid Forest to make money, the animals decide they have to fight back.
