Once Upon a Witch's Death

Once Upon a Witch's Death (ある魔女が死ぬまで, Aru Majo ga Shinu Made) is a 2025 anime series based on the light novel series with the same name written by Saka and illustrated by Chorefuji. It was published by ASCII Media Works under their Dengeki no Shin Bungei imprint on December 17, 2021. The original web novel of the series was published by Kakuyomu from October 3, 2019 to August 26, 2022. The manga version of the series was illustrated by Kenu Amearare, and was serialized in ASCII Media Works's Dengeki Comic Regulus magazine under their Dengeki Comics NEXT imprint on March 10, 2023.

The anime series was announced on June 28, 2024.^[1] It was animated by EMT Squared, directed by Atsushi Nigorikawa, series composition by Keiichirō Ōchi, music composition by Akiyuki Tateyama, and it premiered in Japan on April 1, 2025.

Crunchyroll licensed and produced an English Dub of the series, which premiered on their streaming service on April 22, 2025.^[2]^[3]

Synopsis
Meg Raspberry is just an apprentice witch celebrating her 17th birthday. That is, until Faust, her magic teacher and Perennial Witch of the Seven Sages, suddenly reveals she is going to die. To stop the Death Sentence curse, Meg must create the Seed of Life using tears of joy from 1,000 people. Join Meg on her travels as she collects the happy tears from everyone she meets to gain eternal life!
