Noddy's Toyland Adventures is a British children's television series based on Enid Blyton's children's book series of the same name that aired from September 1992 until January 1993 and December 1994, and again in 2000 on the BBC. It was produced by Cosgrove Hall Films in stop-motion animation.
Background[]
Noddy's Toyland Adventures was aired in Canada from a reformatted series titled The Noddy Shop which featured the original segments redubbed with Canadian voice actors with live action segments that aired in between. The series aired from September 7, 1998 to February 16, 2000 on TVOntario In Canada and in the United States on PBS Kids.
The show starred Sean McCann as Noah Tomten, a former old salt, who now runs an antique shop, the NODDY Shop (this stood for, "Notions, Oddities, Doodads and Delights of Yesterday"). The stories in the series mainly centered on Noah's grandchildren, Kate and Truman, and a friend of Kate's named D.J., who came to play at the shop. Most episodes had a moral message, which was conveyed with a Noddy story, usually told by Kate using the Noddy dolls in the shop, which the viewer saw as recycled animation from earlier Noddy cartoons.
The Noddy Shop would air in the United Kingdom in 1998, this time as Noddy in Toyland; the original British voice tracks were reinstated, but the live action segments still left the North American voices unaltered.
