Neon Genesis Evangelion: Death & Rebirth (新世紀エヴァンゲリオン 劇場版 DEATH & REBIRTH シト新生 Shin seiki Evangerion Gekijō-ban: Shi to Shinsei) is a 1997 Japanese animated science fiction film. It was released on March 15, 1997.
Dubbing History
The film was dubbed and distributed by Manga Entertainment, rather than ADV Films, which dubbed the original Neon Genesis Evangelion series. The dub was recorded at The Editing Company in Houston, Texas (for returning voice actors from the original series) and PCB Productions in Los Angeles, California.
The film was released on VHS and DVD in the United States on July 30, 2002, and later released as a two-disc set with The End of Evangelion on July 26, 2005.
In 2019, the Evangelion series was given a redub by Netflix at the request of Studio Khara, and Death & Rebirth was also given a redub. Despite the film being primarily comprised of footage from the TV series, with the film's original animation later being inserted into the series' "Director's Cut" edition, the dub is a different recording from the series itself like the original.
