Moomin (楽しいムーミン一家 Tanoshii Mūmin Ikka) is an anime series based on the series of novels and comic strips by Finnish illustrator and author Tove Jansson and her brother Lars Jansson. It was the third anime adaptation of the property and the first to receive distribution in other countries worldwide. Moomin first aired on TV Tokyo from April 12, 1990 to October 3, 1991.

Dubbing History[]
Moomin was dubbed into English for the CBBC (then Children's BBC) in the United Kingdom. Dubbing for the series began in 1990, and would continue to be dubbed at various stages through the decade. Judging by the dates on the credits, episodes 1-26 were dubbed in 1990 at Eco Studios in Cardiff, Wales, 27-56 in 1995 at CTV Studios, also in Cardiff, and 57-78 in 1999, again at CTV Studios.[1]

Notes[]
- William Roberts replaced Peter Whitman as Moominpappa after episode 47, towards the end of the run of episodes dubbed in 1995, due to Whitman's death that same year.
- The Internet Movie Database incorrectly lists Peter Woodward (who in fact had no involvement with this series) as the English voice actor for Sniff instead of Jeff Harding.
- Episodes 29, 30 and 45 featured a group of uncredited child actors. Emily Stride, Susan Sheridan's daughter, is currently the only one who has been identified.
- Though the English dub never aired nation-wide in North America, it did air on K-5 in Hawaii, under the title of The Tales of Moomin Valley. This version featured a different opening and ending theme (with singing in both English and Hawaiian), though still utilized CBBC's dub.
- The sequel series Delightful Moomin Family: Adventure Diary was never dubbed into English. Producer Dennis Livson was later highly critical towards the sequel series and stated that "we had nothing left to mine from by way of Tove’s own stories".
