Mobile Suit Gundam III: Encounters in Space (劇場版 機動戦士ガンダム Kidō Senshi Gundam III: Meguriai Uchū Hen) is a 1982 compilation film condensed from episodes 31 to 43 of Mobile Suit Gundam. An English dub was produced in 1999 and distributed by Bandai Entertainment.
Dubbing History[]
According to Steve Cartwright, supervising sound editor for the project, all three movies in the Gundam Trilogy had their English language tracks produced in only two weeks starting from September 28, 1999. The short time frame was due to Bandai's executives somewhat uneasiness in marketing the original Gundam series combined with Sunrise representatives mounting pressure on the former company's American division. ZRO Limit Productions handled casting and recorded the dubs at Fidelity Studios.
The dubs have not been included on any home releases outside the original VHS due to negative fan reception and the advent of the Vancouver-based dub of the original 0079 television series being seen as a drastic improvement.

Trivia[]
- The Movie Trilogy's dub is infamous for mispronouncing Gundam with a short "A" sound (guhn-dam) instead of the correct guhn-dm. Some of the character names are translated differently or incorrectly in comparison to the TV series dub:
- Char Aznable -> Sha Aznable
- Kycilia Zabi -> Kishiria Zabi
- Marker Clan -> Marka Clan
- Letz Cofan -> Retsu Cofan
- Katz Howan -> Katsu Howan
- Dren -> Dorin
- La Coque -> Lackoc
- Cecilia Irene, Gihren's secretary, is renamed "May" in the English dub. Given that the Gihren's Greed games, where Cecilia has her most prominence, have never been officially available to American audiences, this is somewhat understandable.
- The main operator of Kycilia's Gwazine is given the name Harry in English.
- Some actors from the first two films have changed their pseudonyms, most notably Peter Spellos who went by "Hal Lanier" in the first movie but goes by "G. Gordon Baer" in the third, Bill Timoney, previously credited as "Stan McCord" and "Stan Stills", now uses his most common name "Billy Regan", and also Matthew Kermit Miller who is credited as "Matt Miller" as opposed to the previous film under "Kermit Beachwood".
- Weirdly, "Stan Stills" is credited in Part II despite Timoney not voicing any characters there.
- Bob Papenbrook (Peter Owht) and Steve McGowan (Elliot Reynolds) are credited but do not feature in the third movie.
- Rebecca Forstadt (Reba West), Simon Prescott (Simon Isaacson), Jeff Nimoy, Steve Kramer, and John Burnley all appear here as Kikka Kitamoto, Degwin Zabi, Oscar Dublin, Tem Ray, and Cameron Bloom respectively but are uncredited. Also not credited is Jim Ward who appears as Tianem, Tamura, and several incidentals.
- It's possible Ward went uncredited due to him being a union voice actor, and the dub more than likely was not unionized.
- Vammas is this time played by Barry Stigler instead of either of his previous actors Oliver Page and Brian George.
