Macron 1 was a TV series assembled from the Ashi Production anime Sengoku Majin Gōshōgun (戦国魔神ゴーショーグン) and the Kokusai Eiga-sha anime Aku Daisakusen Srungle (悪大作戦スラングル) by Saban Entertainment in 1986.

Dubbing History[]

For their first anime dub, Saban spliced Gōshōgun and Srungle together to have 65 episodes for syndication. The in-show rationale as to how the two shows took place in the same universe involved the main character of Srungle being a pilot who had wound up in a parallel universe, where he talked to the Gōshōgun team through "cross-dimensional television."

To help sell the series, then-current pop songs were added, generally played during the fight scenes. The VHS releases on the Celebrity Home Entertainment label do not include the pop songs.

The version with both shows included only played in the U.S. and Israel. When Macron 1 played in Europe and Latin America, what was shown was a straight adaptation of Gōshōgun, with different opening narration and, often, different dialogue from what was in the American version.
