Luis de Cespédes (January 19, 1949 - May 22, 2013) was a French-born Canadian actor, of Peruvian and Cuban descent. In Québécois dubbing, he was best known as the Québécois voice of Al Pacino, Antonio Banderas, John Malkovitch, and Robin Williams.
Biography[]
Son of singer and actress Louise Darios, Luis de Cespedes spent his childhood between Paris, Montreal, Lima, Chile, Venezuela and Argentina. Back in Montreal, he studied at Collège Marie-de-France and Collège Stanislas. He enrolled at the University of Quebec in Cultural Education and obtained a Master's degree in History.
Author of many dramas for Radio-Canada, he also wrote many translations and adaptations, including that of Antonine Maillet's La Sagouine, to English, then the film adaptation of Pélagie-la Charrette.
He is best known in Quebec as Juan in the 1980 French-language soap-opera Marisol.
He died on May 22, 2013, at the age of 64, from Parkinson's disease.
