Love Live! Sunshine!! (ラブライブ! サンシャイン!!, Rabu Raibu! Sanshain!!) is a Japanese multimedia project co-developed by ASCII Media Works' Dengeki G's Magazine, music label Lantis, and animation studio Sunrise. The project is the second series of the Love Live! franchise and is a spin-off sequel of Love Live! School Idol Project. The story of this project revolves around a new group of nine schoolgirls who become idols in order to save their school from shutting down. It launched in April 2015 with music CDs and anime music videos, followed by a manga version in 2016.

An anime television series was directed by Kazuo Sakai, animated and produced by Sunrise, series composition by Jukki Hanada, composed by Tatsuya Kato, and the first season aired in Japan from July 2, 2016 to September 24, 2016, consisting of 13 episodes. The second season aired from October 7, 2017 to December 30, 2017.

Both seasons are licensed in North America, the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand by Funimation, Anime Limited and Madman Entertainment, respectively. FUNimation Entertainment produced an English Dub of the series, which premiered the first season on their FunimationNow streaming service on July 30, 2016.[1][2] The second season's English Dub premiered as a SimulDub on October 23, 2017.[3]

Synopsis

Nothing is more appealing than the bright, sparkling world of School Idols! The girls of Uranohoshi Girls’ High School are swept into idol fever, wanting nothing more than to become the next-best School Idol group. And they plan to do just that. Chika Takami brings together eight of her classmates to form Aqours, their own idol group. As long as they don’t give up, any dream can come true!
