Dubbing History[]
In August of 2008, the English-language distribution rights to Smeshariki (Смешарики) were acquired by 4Kids Entertainment from worldwide distributor Fun Game Media, Munich. Under the name Gogoriki, the dub first premiered on The CW's The CW4Kids block in the United States on 27 September 2008. It began its second season on 17 October 2009, and the dub ended on 21 September 2011 with 33 episodes and 98 segments. Fun Game Media was also producing a German dub of the original series which began airing on KiKA on 8 December 2008.
Gogoriki was one of the last few English dubs that 4Kids Entertainment did before filing for bankruptcy in 2017. When the show was discontinued on the CW4Kids block after its second season in 2011, 4Kids never issued any DVDs of the show despite the cult following the show had during its run. Instead, they've archived all the episodes on their official website on 14 January 2010.
During 4Kids' downward financial spiral since the dub's cancellation, Gogoriki's rights reverted back to the Russian production company, the Riki Group, who commissioned Studio100 to produce a new English dub (now with a new name Kikoriki, which is being used to this very day) which launched on YouTube on 31 March 2010.
Since February 2017, all rights to Kikoriki and Pin-Code outside of the CIS territories, including Kikoriki episodes in all languages other than Russian, are owned by FUN Union, and then after that, an English dub produced by the same company would be made, with Wayne Grayson and Mike Pollock reprising their roles from the 4Kids dub. Pollock would also take over the roles of Ottoriki and Boboriki (renamed Pin and Barry, respectively) from Bryan Fenkart and David Wills, respectively.
