Kenichi: The Mightiest Disciple - The Attack of Darkness is a 2012 anime OVA series directed by Hiroshi Ishiodori and animated by Brain's Base.

It was released in Japan between March 14, 2012 to May 16, 2014. On January 9, 2024, Discotek Media announced that an English dub of the series by Sound Cadence Studios would be included on the Blu-Ray release which was released on May 28, 2024.

Synopsis

Soon after Kenichi's defeat of Ragnarok, the Ryozanpaku masters find out about an aliance between some of their enemies. Now the entire Ryuzanpaku dojo, both it's masters and students, find themselves targets of powerful martial artists. To Kenichi's dismay, this also means his training also becomes a lot harsher. Spurred on by Kenichi's growing strength, the former Ragnarok members also begin to seek to improve their fighting styles.

  • Most of the original voice cast reprise their roles with a few exceptions.
  • Joel McDonald's second return in the 2020s of the dubbing scene since MF Ghost.
  • In contrast to FUNimation, which dubbed the original series, this OVA series is produced by Sound Cadence Studios instead due to Funimation's closure in 2022. However, the original cast have returned to reprise their roles as their characters except for a few.
