Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress: The Battle of Unato (甲鉄城のカバネリ～海門決戦～ Kō tetsu-jō no kabaneri ~ Kaimon kessen ~) is an anime film, which premiered in theaters in Japan on May 10, 2019. It was streamed internationally on September 13, 2019 as a Netflix original consisting of three episodes.
Synopsis
The world is in the midst of the industrial revolution when horrible creatures emerge for a mysterious virus, going through the flesh of humans to quench their endless appetite. The only way to kill these beings, known as "Kabane," is to destroy their hearts covered in steel. However, if someone is bitten by one of these monsters, the victim is doomed to a fate worse than death.
Only the most fortified civilizations have survived this catastrophe, as is the case on the island of Hinomoto, where humanity has created a massive wall to protect itself from the endless hordes of Kabane. The only way to access these giant fortresses is through heavily armored trains, which are served and built by young men like Ikoma. Having created a deadly weapon that he believes will easily pierce Kabane's hearts, Ikoma looks forward to the day he can fight using his new invention. Little does he know, however, that his opportunity will come much sooner than he expected.
Unlike the original series and for unknown reasons, Netflix chose to record the dub at SDI Media instead of Studiopolis, however the English voice cast from the show return to reprise their roles for the Netflix release.
