Irina: The Vampire Cosmonaut

Irina: The Vampire Cosmonaut (月とライカと吸血姫 Tsuki to Raika to Nosuferatu) is a 2021 anime series based on the light novel with the same name written by Keisuke Makino and illustrated by Karei. It was published by Shogakukan under their Gagaga Bunko imprint from December 20, 2016 to October 19, 2021, with a total of 7 volumes. The manga version of the series was illustrated by Sojihogu, and was serialized in Kodansha's Comic Days magazine from March 8, 2018 to March 3, 2023, with a total of 2 volumes.

The anime series was announced on March 17, 2021. It was animated by Arvo Animation, directed by Akitoshi Yokoyama, series composition by Keisuke Makino, composed by Yasunori Mitsuda, and it premiered in Japan from October 4, 2021 to December 20, 2021. consisting of 12 episodes.

FUNimation Entertainment licensed and produced an English Dub of the series, which premiered on the FunimationNow streaming service on November 14, 2021.^[1]^[2]^[3]

Synopsis

A fierce space race between two global superpowers gives rise to the Nosferatu Project, a top-secret plan to train up some unusual cosmonauts–vampires! When Lev Leps, a human soldier, is ordered to supervise vampire test subject Irina Luminesk, the unlikely pair bonds over their shared dream of reaching the stars. Together, can the human and vampire duo rise above the chaos and corruption down on Earth and blast off into the final frontier?
