Hetalia: Axis Powers is a 2009 web anime series based on the web manga with the same name written and illustrated by Hidekazu Himaruya.
An anime adaptation was announced on July 24, 2008. It was animated by Studio Deen, directed by Bob Shirohata and it aired with 52 5-minute short episodes from January 24, 2009 to March 5, 2010. Funimation announced it had acquired the rights to release the first and second seasons of Hetalia in North America on January 8, 2010. They released the first DVD on September 14, 2010.
