Fugitive Alien, along with its sequel Star Force: Fugitive Alien II are compilation films of the Japanese TV series Star Wolf (スターウルフ Sutā Urufu) which was based on a series of American novels by Edward Hamilton, and produced in 1978 by Tsuburaya Productions.

Synopsis

The films follow Ken, a Star Wolf fighter from the Planet Valnastar, a totalitarian space regime. After disobeying orders and accidentally killing his best friend - a fellow soldier, Ken becomes a fugitive alien rescued by the Earth starship the Bacchus 3. The crew of the Bacchus 3 includes alcoholic Captain Joe, Rocky the pilot, disco-haired navigator Dan, Billy, and Tammy the ‘morale officer’. Ken joins the Bacchus 3 team at Captain Joe’s invitation.

Dubbing History[]

The Star Wolf series was licensed in the 1980's by television producer Sandy Frank and dubbed and edited into two compilation films for television stations to pick up for "movie of the week" features. It was also released on VHS by Celebrity Home Video with rather tongue-in-cheek descriptions.

Due to the cutting episodes together and excising material, the movie often loses all semblance of plot coherency. The many Kens in this movie series are a result of this.

Additional Voices[]

Notes[]

  • The two movies are infamous for being featured on the B-movie lampooning series Mystery Science Theater 3000, along with several other Sandy Frank dubbed movies. They appeared on the show twice, once during its KTMA-TV 23 Minneapolis run (usually referred to by fans as KTMA or Season 0) and again during Season 3 in 1991.
  • Incidentally much of the voice cast were previously voices in the similarly themed sci-fi puppet show, Star Fleet. Many character voices were identified thanks to a fan of the latter.
