Flower and Asura

Flower and Asura (花は咲く、修羅の如く, Hana wa Saku, Shura no Gotoku; lit. 'The Flower Blooms, Like Ashura'), also known as simply Hanashura, is a Japanese manga series written by Ayano Takeda and illustrated by Musshu.It began serialization in Shueisha's seinen manga magazine Ultra Jump in June 2021.

The anime television series was announced on June 12, 2024.^[1] It was animated by Studio Bind, directed by Ayumu Uwano, series composition by Kazuyuki Fudeyasu, music composed by Masaru Yokoyama, and it premiered in Japan from January 8, 2025 to March 26, 2025, consisting of 12 episodes.

Sentai Filmworks licensed and produced an English Dub of the series, which premiered on HIDIVE's streaming service on July 16, 2025.^[2]^[3]

Synopsis

Flower and Asura tells the story of Hana, a book-loving high school girl on a small island, who discovers a passion for storytelling through her school's broadcasting club. After being scouted by Mizuki, the club president, Hana embarks on a journey of self-discovery and develops a deeper love for reading as she participates in club activities. The series focuses on Hana's personal growth and the experiences she shares with the other club members.
