Fist of Legend (精武英雄 Jīng Wǔ Yīng Xióng) is a 1994 Hong Kong martial arts film directed by Gordon Chan.
Dubbing History[]
An International dub for the film was created for export to English-speaking territories. This version was only released on the Spanish DVD release by Manga Films and (in slightly edited form) on the Indian VCD release by Diskovery. Strangely, this version has aired occasionally on US TV with a Miramax ident, instead of their own produced version.
A newly dubbed version was released in the U.S. by Miramax and Buena Vista Distribution in 2000. Miramax's release caused an uproar with the Hong Kong Cinema fan community due to it containing a new English score with alterations to the original dialogue and no option to play the original Cantonese version. The Weinstein Company would later release both the Miramax English and Cantonese versions on Blu-ray through Dragon Dynasty in 2010, though the visuals are retained from the Miramax dub with the Cantonese audio edited to match the footage and the subtitles ultimately become dubtitles towards the end of the movie.
