Evangelion 2.22 You Can (Not) Advance (ヱヴァンゲリヲン新劇場版: 破 Evangerion Shin Gekijōban: Ha) is a Japanese animated film directed by Kazuya Tsurumaki and Masayuki, and written by Hideaki Anno, and was released on June 27, 2009 in Japan. It is the second of four films released in the "Rebuild of Evangelion" tetralogy based on the original Evangelion anime.

It was produced and co-distributed by Hideaki Anno's Studio Khara in partnership with Gainax. The film is based on Episode 7 of the series onwards, with an ending which completely diverges the film series' storyline relation to the original.

It was released theatrically in North America by FUNimation Entertainment on January 19, 2011 and later on DVD on March 29, 2011.

On August 13, 2021, Amazon Prime Video released the movie with a new English dub. Much of the voice actors from the original dub as well as the ADV Films dub of the original show reprised their roles in the Amazon Prime dub such as Spike Spencer, Tiffany Grant, Allison Keith and John Swasey. Amanda Winn Lee was also brought back as Rei Ayanami.

Synopsis

Under constant attack by Angels, NERV introduces two new pilots: the mysterious Mari Illustrous Makinami and the intense Asuka Langley Shikinami. Parallel to the incursion, Gendo Ikari and SEELE proceed the secret project that involves both Rei and Shinji.
