Dr. Slump & Arale, or simply Dr. Slump (Dr.スランプ Dokutā Suranpu) is a Japanese anime based on the manga created by Akira Toriyama, creator of Dragon Ball. Produced by Toei Animation, the anime ran from 1981 to 1986 with a total of 243 episodes.

Dubbing History[]
Dr. Slump was originally licensed in the United States by Harmony Gold in 1984, which produced a pilot dub of the first episode recorded at Intersound, Inc.. Character names were Americanized (Senbei was only referred to as his nickname Dr. Slump) while various scenes were edited out for content. The pilot failed to be picked up, so no further episodes were dubbed and Harmony Gold dropped the license.
An English dub would later be produced in 2010 by Omni Productions in Hong Kong. This dub featured Andrea Kwan and later Gloria Ansell as Arale and Michael C. Pizzuto as Senbei. The dub ran for 58 episodes and aired on Cartoon Network Asia.[1]

Notes[]
- Whilst the full series itself has not been dubbed, the characters often appear outside in Toriyama's other productions, most notably Dragon Ball.
- Discotek Media has licensed the films for release on DVD in the United States. Various members who work at Discotek expressed interest in dubbing and releasing the series; though it seems unlikely.
