Del Gregory Russo (September 27, 1952 - February 7, 2015), known professionally as Del Russel, was an American actor and voice actor, best known for his role as Richard Nuvo in the television sitcom Arnie (1970-72). He was the only child of actors Tony Russel and Jodean Russo.

Biography[]

Following in the footsteps of his actor parents Tony Russel and Jodean Russo, Del Russel made his acting debut at the age of 5 in a Pasadena Playhouse production of Medea in the role of Medea's son. He subsequently appeared in two episodes of the science fiction TV series Men into Space (1959-60) and played a small part alongside Sandra Dee in the comedy Tammy Tell Me True (1961).

In 1961, Russel moved to Rome, Italy, with his family after his father landed a role in an Italian film. Both of his parents soon became heavily involved in the English dubbing scene in Rome, and Russel himself was recruited to work as a child dubber. A notable dubbing role for him was as the voice of child actor Loris Loddi in the spaghetti western The Man Who Came to Kill (1965), in which both of his parents also had voice roles. In addition to dubbing, Russel also won the role of Elizabeth Taylor's son in the epic spectable Cleopatra (1963).

In 1967, Russel and his parents moved back to the US. After graduating from John Marshall High School in Los Angeles, he continued his acting career in the 1970s with supporting roles in film and television, with his most prominent role being in the television sitcom Arnie (1970-72) in which he played the long-haired teenage son of series star Herschel Bernardi.

In the 1980s, Russel moved back to Rome and took up dubbing again, as well as appearing in small roles in several American films shot on location in Rome. He eventually retired from acting in the 1990s and returned to the US.

Russel died on February 7, 2015, from undisclosed causes in Santa Rosa, California. He was 62 years old.
