Dance in the Vampire Bund (ダンス イン ザ ヴァンパイアバンド Dansu in za Vanpaia Bando) is a supernatural romance anime, based on the manga written and illustrated by Nozomu Tamaki. It consists of 12 episodes and was produced by Shaft. The series aired between January 7, 2010 to April 1, 2010 in Japan.

Synopsis

The series begins with Mina Tepes, self proclaimed sovereign of vampires, and her protector, who is a werewolf, Akira. Like the other vampires, Mina has been hiding from humans for a long time. Trying to end the centuries-old years of isolation, Mina gets permission to build a vampire-dwelling district, "The Bund", off the coast of Japan for the payment of the entire national debt of the Japanese government. Mina then reveals to the world the existence of vampires and her wish for both races to live in peace. Unfortunately, opposition organizations appear in the process that attempt to kill Mina and interfere with her desire for both races to live in peace.

Notes[]

  • FUNimation initially announced that they'd release the series in an edited format due to the "controversial elements of the series, which, when taken out of context, could be objectionable to some audiences". After much negative backlash, and further review from FUNimation, the series was released in its uncut format as none of the content actually violated U.S. law.
    • Similarly in the UK, while expected to be censored, the series passed by the BBFC with a "15" rating.
  • Due to the controversial nature of the series, many of the voice actors chose to either be listed under aliases (Jasmine Mendingo, Abigail Hartman, Anita Neukar, etc.) or plainly be un-credited.
