D.Gray-man ( ディー・グレイマン Dī Gureiman), is a Japanese anime series based on the shounen manga of the same name written and illustrated by Katsura Hoshino. It was produced by TMS Entertainment and ran on TV Tokyo from October 3, 2006 to September 30, 2008, lasting for over 103 episodes. A sequel series titled D.Gray-man Hallow aired from July to September, 2016.

The first 51 episodes of the series was released in North America on DVD by FUNimation Entertainment between March 31, 2009 and January 5, 2010. Due to rights issues, the second half of the series would not be dubbed and released until October 10, 2017.

Synopsis

Losing a loved one is so painful that one may sometimes wish to be able to resurrect them—a weakness that the enigmatic Millennium Earl exploits. To make his mechanical weapons known as "Akuma," he uses the souls of the dead that are called back. Once a soul is placed in an Akuma, it is trapped forever, and the only way to save them is to exorcise them from their vessel using the Anti-Akuma weapon, "Innocence."

After spending three years as the disciple of General Cross, Allen Walker is sent to the Black Order—an organization comprised of those willing to fight Akuma and the Millennium Earl—to become an official Exorcist. With an arm as his Innocence and a cursed eye that can see the suffering souls within an Akuma, it's up to Allen and his fellow Exorcists to stop the Millennium Earl's ultimate plot: one that can lead to the destruction of the world.

Additional Voices[]

Notes[]

  • Jason Liebrecht's roles were briefly recast after being injured in a motorcycle accident, with Chris Patton taking over as Lavi and Todd Haberkorn taking over as Millennium Earl.
  • Due to the 7 year time gap between the dubs of first and second seasons of the series, various cast members are replaced.
  • Leah Clark was mistakenly credited for voicing Claire when in fact Jamie Marchi provided her voice, it's fixed in the credits on episode 40 (appearing in the flashback).
  • Charles Campbell was mistakenly credited as voicing Mana when in fact Mark Stoddard voiced him in every episode were the character appears.
  • Derek Stephen Prince's first non-LA dub.
