Crusher Joe: The Movie (クラッシャージョウ) is a 1983 anime film based on the Japanese science fiction novel series Crusher Joe written by Haruka Takachiho. The film was directed by Yoshikazu Yasuhiko and produced by Studio Nue and Nippon Sunrise. The film was released in Japan on March 12, 1983.
Dubbing History[]
In 1988, the film would be dubbed into English by Enoki Films, released under the title Crushers. The dub would be directed by Jim Terry and would be heavily edited down with around 43 minutes cut from the runtime. This version also features a new theme song by Bullets. This dub is only known to have been released on VHS in the United Kingdom.
In 1997, the film would be dubbed into English a second time, this time by AnimEigo. As typical with AnimEigo productions, the dubbing was done in North Carolina at Coastal Carolina Sound Studios. Unlike the first dub of the film, this dub is fully unedited and is far more faithful to the original. AnimEigo would also dub the two Crusher Joe OVAs. The movie and the OVA series were later licensed by Discotek Media in 2016 after AnimEigo's license expired.
