Classroom of the Elite (ようこそ実力至上主義の教室へ, Yōkoso Jitsuryoku Shijō Shugi no Kyōshitsu e, lit. "Welcome to the Classrooms Where Merit is Paramount") is a 2017 anime series based on the Japanese light novel series, written by Syougo Kinugasa and illustrated by Shunsaku Tomose published from May 2015 to September 2019 under Media Factory's MF Bunko J imprint. A sequel light novel series called "Classroom of the Elite: Year 2" began publishing in January 2020. A manga adaptation by Yuyu Ichino began its serialization in Media Factory's Monthly Comic Alive on January 27, 2016. A manga adaptation of the sequel light novel series illustrated by Shia Sasane began serialization in the same magazine on December 25, 2021.
The anime television series was overall produced by Lerche. The first season was directed by Seiji Kishi, written by Aoi Akashiro, music composed by Ryo Takahashi, and it aired in Japan from July 12, 2017 to September 27, 2017, consisting of 12 episodes.
The second season was announced on February 21, 2022.[1] Both the second and third seasons was directed by Yoshihito Nishōji, chief directed by both Seiji Kishi & Hiroyuki Hashimoto, written by Hayato Kazano, music composed by both Masaru Yokoyama & Kana Hashiguchi, and it aired in Japan from July 4, 2022 to September 26, 2022, consisting of 13 episodes.
The third season was written by Yasushi Shigenobu, and it premiered in Japan from January 3, 2024 to March 27, 2024, consisting of 13 episodes.
The fourth season of the series which will be covering the first semester of the Year 2 sequel light novel series was announced during the "MF Bunko J Natsu no Gakuensai 2024" livestream event on September 1, 2024.[2]
FUNimation Entertainment licensed the series for the first season, and produced an English Dub, which premiered on Funimation's streaming service on July 29, 2017.[3][4][5] Crunchyroll licensed the series for the second season and beyond. They produced the second season's English Dub, which premiered on their streaming service on July 25, 2022.[6][7] The third season's English Dub premiered on January 17, 2024.[8][9]
