Chaika - The Coffin Princess (棺姫のチャイカ, Hitsugi no Chaika) is a 2014 anime series based on the light novel series with the same name written by Ichirō Sakaki & illustrated by Namaniku ATK.

It was published by Fujimi Shobo from December 18, 2010 to March 10, 2015 with 12 volumes released. It received a manga adaptation written by Ichirō Sakaki & illustrated by Shinta Sakayama, with it published by Kadokawa Shoten from October 26, 2011 to December 26, 2014 with a total of 5 volumes.

An anime adaptation was announced in July of 2013. The anime series was animated BONES and aired in Japan from April 9, 2014 to June 25, 2014, and the second season titled Chaika - The Coffin Princess: Avenging Battle aired from October 9, 2014 to December 11, 2014, consisting in total of 22 episodes. Sentai Filmworks has licensed the anime for digital and home video release back in August of 2015. They released the DVD and Blu-ray back on December 15, 2015. Crunchyroll has streamed the subbed version of the anime, while Sentai Filmwork's streaming site HIDIVE streams both the Sub & Dub of the anime.

Synopsis

An encounter with a strange, coffin-toting girl named Chaika, forever changes Toru Acura’s life as they set out on a journey that will take them across the country and into battle with the mysterious forces that are targeting her!
