Candy Candy (キャンディ・キャンディ, Kyandi Kyandi) is a Japanese anime television series based on Kyoko Mizuki's manga series of the same name, which was originally broadcast in Japan by TV Asahi from October 1, 1976 to February 2, 1979.

Dubbing History[]
The series was originally dubbed by M. & M. Communications, Inc. out of Honolulu, Hawaii in the late 1970's. The dub featured original Japanese singer Mitsuko Horie singing the English theme as well. How much of the series was dubbed is unknown. Similar to other dubs by the company, the only remaining evidence of the dub is from a Vinyl album released in November 1977 by Nippon Columbia.[1]
In 1980, ZIV International acquired the U.S. rights to the series. The first two episodes were dubbed into English, with a new theme song and score created by in-house composer Mark Mercury. This was ultimately condensed into a straight-to-video production, released on tape in 1981 by Media Home Entertainment. It is unknown if any more episodes were dubbed for the American market.
A third dub was produced by Questor (now named Telesuccess Productions) for airing in The Philippines at an unknown date. The only traces of it online are the opening and ending themes, both confirmed to be sung by Kaye Torres (Under the stage name Candy Kay) daughter of Filipino movie star Nida Blanca. None of the dubs have been subsequently reissued due to the complex legal entanglements of the Candy Candy franchise.
