Bob Kaliban was an American actor and voice-over artist.


A native of Lisbon, Iowa, he moved to New York with his family in the 1960s to pursue a career on Broadway. He would go on to have roles in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, Ben Franklin in Paris and The Conquering Hero.

Kaliban appeared on television shows including Car 54, Where Are You?, The Patty Duke Show, Run Buddy Run, Run for Your Life, and Law & Order.

His best known on-camera role was that of the “Ty-D-Bol Man,” the captain's hat, blazer, and turtleneck-clad spokesman for Ty-D-Bowl toilet cleaner.

Kaliban’s voice-over career spanned five decades and hundreds of episodes of animated television. Most recently, Kaliban lent his voice to three characters in Alberto Mar's animated film Top Cat: The Movie.

He served on the national board of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) from 1968 to 1994 and was elected SAG New York Branch President for two terms in the 1970s. He was a member of the Board Trustees of the SAG-Producers Pension & Health Plans for forty years, and remained a Trustee of the SAG-Producers Pension Plan until his death.

Kaliban died December 12, 2020. He was 87.
