Biography[]

Bernard Grant was born in 1920 in New York City. He first came in contact with acting through church groups and continued to act in neighbourhood theatres, while attending the City College of New York. Grant then studied acting at the American Theater Wing, worked as a radio announcer for WPAT-AM in New York City and performed with a comedy troupe in night clubs.[1]

During World War II, he served the US Army for three years as a troop entertainer and left with the rank of staff sergeant.[1]

Starting in 1947, Bernard Grant was a frequent guest in radio dramas, sometimes in four a day and often voicing more than one character. With the advent of television, Grant started appearing in such shows, as The Goldbergs and Ponds Theater. He remained a fixture on TV for the rest of his career, regularly appearing on daytime dramas, like The Guiding Light and One Life to Live.[1]

During the 1950s and 1960s, he began his dubbing ventures. Often working for Titra Studios, he dubbed over actors, such as Marcello Mastroianni, Yves Montand and Jean Gabin.

Bernard Grant was married to fellow voice actress Joyce Gordon until his death, with whom he had two kids.
