Angel's Egg (天使のたまご) is a 1985 Japanese animated experimental post-apocalyptic science fantasy OVA film written and directed by Mamoru Oshii. It was released by Tokuma Shoten on December 15, 1985.

The film has was originally dubbed and edited by New World Pictures into segments for the 1988 film In the Aftermath. On October 16, 2025, GKIDS announced that Angel's Egg will received an new uncut English dub and premiered in theaters on November 19, 2025.

Synopsis

In a desolate and dark world full of shadows, lives one little girl who seems to do nothing but collect water in jars and protect a large egg she carries everywhere. A mysterious man enters her life... and they discuss the world around them.

  • In the Aftermath features a lot of live action wraparound segments, in order to try and make the story less confusing to an American audience. One of these segments features the character of Angel, who is portrayed on screen by Rainbow Dolan.
  • In the original Angel's Egg, the narrator was a separate character, whereas in In the Aftermath, Angel tells the story instead.
  • The film will be released on a sub-only Blu-ray by Umbrella Entertainment in Australia.
  • Justice Slocum's only role for NYAV Post.
